Time is precious to everyone, and our volunteers are greatly appreciated for whatever time they can give. You will be making use of your skills and learning new ones.
In return you will experience a real satisfaction in knowing you are helping people and are making a difference to their quality of life.
If you would like to be part of our team, here are just some of the areas of support where our volunteers help.
You will be giving valuable respite for the permanent carer, enabling them to have some personal time to themselves. You do not need any qualifications other than common sense and a willingness to be with people experiencing a difficult time. Full training is given and expenses paid.
For a carer who needs to go shopping or attend a social function, or to take a volunteer to their sitting session. Full travel expenses are met. Specialist Volunteers include:
We are often asked to do odd jobs – gardening, DIY and we are also always looking for office volunteers.
If you think you have any skills that might help us or our clients we would be delighted to hear from you.
If you would like to talk about volunteering for The Beacon of Hope please ring:
Naturally we are always delighted when someone gives us money. Every single penny we raise is spent in Ceredigion helping families when they need help most.
We are always looking for fundraisers to join our fundraising committee based in Aberystwyth. Within the next few months we would like to establish fundraising committees in other parts of the county too – if you would like to take on this role in your area (perhaps with a friend or two) – please let us know. It really can be great fun!
Much of the money raised comes to us from functions or activities raised by other groups within our community. If you would like to organise a fundraising activity on our behalf – coffee mornings, sponsored walks, concerts, parties – anything that will raise money for, and awareness of, the Beacon of Hope’s work, again we would be very pleased.
Another way of supporting us financially is by ‘Sponsoring a Nurse’.
For as little as 50p per week you could make a difference!
If 1000 people donated 50p/per week then we could employ another much needed Hospice at Home nurse in the county. Gift-aiding this money would pay another part time nurse. If you would like to support us in this way please download the Donations Form and return it to your bank.

If you would like to send us a one-off donation please send a cheque made out to ‘The Beacon of Hope’ to Dinah Jamieson, The Beacon of Hope, 10 Baker St, Aberystwyth SY23 2BJ.
If you would like to support the work of the Beacon of Hope by leaving us a gift in your will please contact Dana Edwards 01970 617042 to discuss this.
Making an in Memoriam donation in memory of a loved one is such a special thing to do. Not only does it allow other families to benefit from the services offered by the Beacon of Hope, allowing people to live and to die according to their own wishes, but it also, hopefully, offers some comfort to the families of the bereaved, knowing that they are easing someone else’s path.
